Eva Air Infinity Lounge, Taipei: Solid without breaking the bank!

It’s already time to go home! After a short and very rainy stay in Taipei, I’m back in the air for this itinerary to London.

Today’s itinerary

Check-In and ground experience

As I said in a previous report, this itinerary is an addition to my original trip, which was to take place in Bangkok only.

So I check-in online for this flight, less than 48 hours before departure, via the Eva Air website. The procedure is simple and generates either a PDF to print or a Passbook card.

I arrive at the airport just under an hour and a half before departure.

Even if I don’t have any luggage to check in, I’ll stop by the check-in counter to get my paper boarding passes.

The attendant asks me if my itinerary continues afterwards, I reply in the affirmative and he asks me for my itinerary, which I provide him with (I always have a paper copy).

After a few minutes of manipulation, he will be able to provide me with the 3 boarding passes that will take me to London.

I will then pass through the security and police checks in about 15 minutes, as Taipei does not offer a priority lane for these checks.

Location and welcome

The lounge, like all its counterparts, is located on the terminal’s mezzanine level, and is accessible by escalator.

The lounge entrance is spacious, and separate “lounges” are available for Business and Star Alliance Gold passengers.

IMG_0626

Unlike Lufthansa, Business passengers have access to a better lounge (shouldn’t this be the case everywhere?).

The welcome is courteous.

Lounge design

Like the one in Bangkok, the design of the lounge is rather psychedelic, I would say like a Ukrainian brothel or W, if I want to be polite: it is futuristic but with a lot of

gaudy colors like a Christmas tree.

Catering and relaxation areas are available, as are 4 showers that can be booked at reception.

Boarding time change announcements are made directly in the lounge. The boardings themselves, however, are not announced.

Catering

The food and beverage offer is in line with what you’d expect at breakfast time, and of fairly high quality. I’ll stick to steamed ravioli this time, to take my medicine.

Bottom line

A pleasant stay, disturbed by ultra-noisy people at the end of the stay.
