This is the first flight of the 3 on my return itinerary, whose departure will be delayed by almost an hour.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
Following various announcements in the lounge, the boarding of my flight to Bangkok is delayed by 50 minutes, and departure delayed by 35 minutes.
I leave the lounge as boarding is announced, and arrive at the gate when zone 1 finishes boarding.
A priority lane is clearly marked, and I use it to get to the aircraft.
The 787-10 used by Eva Air is sumptuous.
Cabin and welcome
This version is extremely well designed, with an incredible seat width for a 787 fuselage, and no unpleasant “footbox” like on Cirrus or Super Diamond seats.
I’ll be greeted at my seat by a flight attendant, who’ll ask me how she should address me (how to pronounce my unpronounceable name) and ask me what I’d like in a welcome drink. I’ll start light with green tea and a glass of still water.
She will also confirm my Western breakfast order.
Service and catering
The service will take a long time to start after takeoff.
Unfortunately, the flight attendant thought I’d be drinking the same thing during the meal… No way! Nevertheless, a glass of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame was promptly brought to me, as was the meal tray containing the cold options from the Western menu.
The yoghurt will be excellent, as will the croissant and toast, both fresh.
I’m then served the hot dish, mushroom ravioli with truffle sauce, and polenta. Strange combination, but very good nonetheless.
I’ll have refills of bread and champagne throughout the meal, then fall asleep for a nice one hour-and-a-half nap, well deserved after the short night.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive at the gate about 30 minutes later than originally planned, which reduces my self-connect to about 1h10. Not much of a race, but no time to lose either.
Bottom line
A very good flight, but the crew was a little below that of the outbound flight, despite the fact that the Business cabin was not full.
