The SAS lounge at Gothenburg airport, though small, is pleasant and welcoming, but suffers from a poor catering offer.
After two days in Gothenburg, it was time for me to fly to my final destination, Chicago. For this I’ll have a connection in Copenhagen. But before embarking on this journey, I’ve got some time to kill at the airport, which I’ll naturally spend at Gothenburg Landvetter’s SAS lounge.

Location of the lounge
The lounge is located in the middle of the terminal, just outside the duty free exit, next to the Vinga lounge.
Given the airport’s modest size, you’ll never be more than 5 minutes from your boarding gate.
Access to the lounge
The SAS lounge in Gothenburg welcomes SAS Gold and Diamond passengers, passengers with Star Alliance Gold status on an alliance partner airline, and business class and above passengers from SAS and Star Alliance airlines.
Lounge layout
It starts with a large room, half with high tables and stools, half with a more conventional lounging area.
Always the simple, warm, Scandinavian style we love in SAS lounges.
This is also where the buffet is located.
Behind is a smaller room with a few armchairs, a workspace and enclosed booths for working and making calls.
What to say? It’s just like SAS lounges: pretty and warm.
Catering
The buffet is exclusively cold, with the exception of soup, at all times of the day. Only its content varies: cheese and cold meats in the morning, salad the rest of the day.
While aesthetics are a recurring feature of all SAS lounges, so too is the paucity of food and beverage options, which we find much less appealing.
Yoghurts, jams and bread are also available.
Drinks include the usual soft drinks, a water cooler, wine, a few spirits and draught beer, which is very popular with local customers, even at breakfast.
And that’s it.
Nice for a snack, provided you’re not too hungry or demanding.
But if the offer at the airline’s flagship lounge in Copenhagen seems indigent, here it’s worse.
Facilities
The lounge has phone booths, toilets (only two, there’s often a queue, but there are outside toilets just outside the lounge for those who can’t hold back) but no showers. There’s also a children’s area.
Atmosphere
Always quite quiet even when the lounge is full.
Bottom line
A very pleasant lounge for a short wait, but with a limited and frugal catering offer.
