American Airlines Admirals Club, Austin: Small but Pleasant

Beginning this return itinerary to Boston with a visit to the Admirals Club in Austin.

Check-in and ground experience

I completed the check-in formalities 24 hours before my departure to Boston through the American Airlines app. I then promptly retrieved my PDF and Passbook boarding passes.

On the morning of departure, I arrived by Uber around 1 hour and 30 minutes before the flight. Security was extremely busy, and despite using the Clear Plus lane, it still took me around twenty minutes to make it airside, with the added bonus of a random screening carried out by courteous and professional agents.

Location and Welcome

The lounge is located on the mezzanine level near gate 21 and is accessible by both stairs and elevators. The entrance is close to that of the United Club, which I had already visited previously.

The welcome was very courteous, and I was invited into the lounge after my eligibility was verified.

Design

The lounge design is fairly basic, and the space has largely remained untouched since the 1990s. Only the furniture has been updated to match the Admirals Club’s newer color palette. I settled into one of the workstations at the back of the lounge.

Food & Beverage Offering

The food offering is limited but of good quality, and I had half an omelet with sausages, along with a latte.

Bottom line

A short but pleasant stay. More than sufficient for a 30- to 40-minute wait.
