Copenhagen-Gothenburg on SAS in SAS Plus: basic

One should not expect anything from SAS in medium haul if not a quality crew and this flight, especially considering its duration, is one more example.

I’m almost there: after passing through Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, I only have a short hop from Copenhagen to Gothenburg. It will be on board an ATR42 and in SAS Plus class, more of a premium economy than a business class as SAS does not offer a real business class in short/medium haul.

For the record the air routing of this trip.

Ground experience

I have a short connection, one hour, so I don’t hang around when I get off the A350 that brought me from Singapore.

No need to go through the security checkpoints, but I have to go through immigration to enter the Schengen area. As on the first day, the e-gates are closed but there is no queue and the Scandinavian staff is always so pleasant.

Since we are flying in an ATR42 the boarding will be done by bus so our boarding lounge will be in the lower floor, on the tarmac level. Most of the passengers are already there and there are only a few minutes left before boarding begins.

Boarding

Boarding starts on time and even a little ahead of schedule.

A bus brings us to our aircraft and we finish the way on foot. There is more engagement than a December morning in Copenhagen but unlike my departure from Gothenburg 10 days earlier there is no snow.

The cabin

I enter the cabin and sit at the back of it: since the ATR42 boards from the back, the passengers of the higher classes are also at the back to get settled faster and get out first.

IMG_3652

As always on SAS the tone of the cabins is quite nice.

IMG_3664

The seat is comfortable but the legroom is limited.

IMG_3653

I won’t have a seatmate so I’ll be able to stand at an angle.

IMG_3655

The buy on board menu is located in the front seat pocket.

IMG_3657

We are announced a slight delay because some suitcases are missing. In my opinion, they are those of the connecting passengers, including mine. What my airtag confirms!

10 minutes later I see a cart arrive and my airtag confirms that my luggage is inside! I had no desire to live the same misadventure as in the outward journey even if it had been very well managed.

The flight and the service

We take off in a very….scandinavian weather.

IMG_3649

The service offered in SAS Plus is usually quite basic: a lunchbox and a drink. Given the duration of this flight there will be only one drink. I will skip and doze until the finish line.

Crew

Very pleasant and warm from what little I have seen.

Landing and arrival

The descent goes without problem and we find the same weather as in Copenhagen, with rain in addition.

IMG_3661

We’ll park at a remote stand and I’ll hurry to the terminal.

IMG_3665

The luggage will be delivered about ten minutes later, much faster than the indicated time. In the meantime, the stock of suitcases that I see on the side tells me that many passengers are still waiting for their luggage from the day before… it reminds me of something.

IMG_3669

However, my suitcase is still there…it didn’t happen so often this year.

Bottom line

A very utilitarian flight with basic service between two very close cities. I expected nothing more than to arrive on time with my suitcase and that was the case.
