Paris-Frankfurt in business class on Lufthansa: acceptable

Lufthansa’s performance on this business class flight was very decent, although the airline has accustomed us to a little better.

Having to reach Goteborg from where my journey to Malaysia begins, my choice fell once again on Lufthansa for the simple reason that it was the airline that offered me the best fares.

Booking

I booked a little more than 15 days before my departure and I found this ticket for just over 400€ in business class on LufthansaThis was a fairly standard price for a medium-haul 4-segments with them, and I was pleasantly surprised because so soon before departure I thought the prices would be higher.

Check-in and ground course

I did my check-in online the day before departure but I still had to go to the counter to check a piece of luggage.

Not many people in the queue, it will be done in less time than it takes to say it.

I then head for the satellite from which the Lufthansa flights depart. I really like the vintage architecture of the T1 in Roissy.

The queue for the security checks is long but I will be alone in the priority queue and I will be able to overtake everyone. For once I’ve found a nice agent! In 5 minutes I’m in the satellite to realize that if important works have taken place in T1, leading to a long closure, it doesn’t concern this part of the terminal.

I head straight for the lounge.

The lounge

I have the choice between Lufthansa’s Business and Senator lounges and this time I choose the Business. Why ? No idea, only perhaps the desire to change a little.

Not the nicest lounge around and a bit worse than the Senator in my opinion but they did what they could with the architectural constraints of the terminal, the worst problem for me being the lack of windows. But it’s not their fault.

Salmon, scrambled eggs not restocked, cold cuts, pastries. The offer seems to me to be less rich than on the Senator side, even if it is very decent for a breakfast.

I will leave the lounge a few minutes before boarding.

Boarding

IMG_2241

Boarding begins on time with strict adherence to priorities. But we get stuck in the feeder and until the priority passengers have returned the boarding of the others does not start.

IMG_2240

15 minutes of waiting without any announcement being made. We finally get to the plane.

The cabin

We find the well known NEK seat, also known as the ironing board… The middle seat will of course be neutralized in business class.

IMG_2243

Very thin but nice and finally at least as comfortable as what Air France offers in medium range.

IMG_2245

On the other hand, I deplore the absence of sockets…

While I’m waiting for the boarding to finish I notice that my baggage receipt has been sent to me by email. A good practice that I appreciate at Lufthansa.

IMG_2248

There will be 9 rows of business class on this flight.

We will be ready to leave 30 minutes after the theoretical time. Luckily I have a long connection before my flight to Goteborg.

The flight and the service

We say goodbye to Roissy and to this T1 with its typical architecture.

IMG_2249

The take-off is short and we quickly break through the cloud layer to finally see a bit of blue sky.

IMG_2256

The meal trays are quickly brought to us.

IMG_2257

In terms of quantity this is a bit light and I can’t help but think that Lufthansa has really lightened its dishes since the COVID.

The cold cuts are good but in too small a quantity. Bread and croissants are hot but the croissant is a bit chewy. As for the cottage cheese… not great. The dessert with the fruits will be quite good.

The drinks service will start…. once I have finished eating. Either I eat quickly, there is not enough to eat or the service is poorly organised…but it is not optimal.

The flight continues quietly until we approach Frankfurt.

The staff

Professional and friendly but poorly organised, which resulted in drinks being served too late. Or is it the high number of passengers in business?

Arrival

As usual we land on runway 25R with a beautiful view of the airport…

IMG_2258

…and a long taxi to the terminal.

For once we will be in contact and will not be disembarking by bus.

Bottom line

An uneventful flight but I was a little disappointed with the catering and a lot with the slow beverage service. A little below Lufthansa’s standards.
