Nothing exceptional on this short flight between Paris and Amsterdam with KLM, but solid service and attentive staff.
My trip is coming to an end and it’s time to return to my starting point, Gothenburg. But to avoid routine, I’ve added a stopover in Amsterdam so as not to write yet another article about Air France’s Paris-Gothenburg route.
For the record the air routing of this trip.
You will find a summary of the articles on these holidays in Singapore and Bali at the bottom of the page.
Ground experience
I am waiting quietly in the La Première lounge for my flight to board. The plane is delayed, but I am not worried: my chaperone tells me that he will only come to collect me once boarding has actually begun.
He finally came to pick me up, and I got into the Porsche, which he drove to the plane.
We arrive at the foot of the aircraft, climb the stairs leading to the galley, and he leads the way, asking everyone to step aside to let me pass.
It reminds me of boarding a flight, also in first class, in Singapore a few years ago, when the agent authoritatively pushed everyone in line aside to let us board first.
Once we got on the plane, he introduced me to the crew as a “first-class passenger” and told me that I would be well taken care of.
The cabin
I prefer the colors of this “new” cabin compared to the previous generation.
The legroom is very good.
However, at the moment I find the seat a little too firm.
The flight and the service
The cabin crew manager comes by to ask if everything is OK, and we chat for a while. She asks me where I’m going, I tell her Gothenburg, and she says that they’re heading to Billund next.
We finally close the doors but remain in the parking spot. We are already quite late, but then, for some unknown reason, we have to unload passengers and their luggage. At least the captain makes an announcement to explain the situation.
The crew is trying to reassure passengers who have connecting flights, but there’s nothing they can do; it’s out of their hands.
We finally leave. I don’t think my connection is at risk, but we’ll see when we get there.
The lunchboxes are brought to us quickly.
Fresh fruit, hangop yogurt, and crispy apple and cinnamon muesli Gluten, milk, butter blinis with ASC-certified smoked salmon, herb cream cheese, and green apple, garnished with chives and served with multigrain crackers.
The salmon blinis are really good, the fruit is ripe and sweet… very good, especially for me, as I don’t like the sweet dishes that are often served for breakfast.
The flight attendant is very attentive and even looks after a baby while its mother goes to the toilet.
The captain finally announced a 30-minute delay. That’s good, I’ll make my connection.
Arrival
We quickly begin our descent and I see the characteristic landscape of the Netherlands again.
We land, but it takes more than 10 minutes to reach the terminal, and I can sense some passengers starting to stress about their connections.
We finally pull up to our parking spot and as soon as the door opens, the passengers rush into the terminal. At the exit, the crew greets us with a slightly more emphatic thank you for me. Always the first-class effect…
Despite the delay, I even have time to stop by the lounge before boarding the flight to Gothenburg.
The crew
Really friendly and very professional.
Bottom line
Nothing very exciting after a 13-hour flight in first class, but a high-quality, very solid service with a very friendly crew.
