Amsterdam-Gothenburg in business class on KLM: very decent

Nothing exceptional, but another solid service from KLM on this business class flight to Gothenburg.

My trip is coming to an end. One more flight to Gothenburg, a few discoveries there, and then it’s back to Paris and the end of the line. To avoid getting stuck in a rut, instead of flying directly to my destination with Air France from Paris, I took KLM via Amsterdam to see the Dutch airline again, which I haven’t flown with much in recent years.

For the record the air routing of this trip.

You will find a summary of the articles on these holidays in Singapore and Bali at the bottom of the page.

Ground experience

My connection was significantly shortened due to my flight delay in Paris, but I still had time to visit the KLM lounge. The place was pleasant but nothing special, and I left a little early, knowing that I had quite a walk ahead of me to reach my boarding gate.

The air is strangely muggy and humid, as if they have a problem with the air conditioning.

Boarding

We will board on time, but by bus, so the priority line will not be used and may even be counterproductive, as the first people to board the bus will be the last to get off.

After a short bus ride, we arrived at the foot of the aircraft.

The cabin

We’re in an Embraer, so it’s a 2-2 configuration.

IMG_1103

I’m not a big fan, not because of the comfort of the aircraft, but because of the lack of space in the cabin. What’s more, there are no neutral seats in business class.

The flight and the service

It’s hot in the cabin, and you can feel the humidity, which isn’t pleasant at all.

Loading luggage takes time, and at one point they even unload suitcases and then reload everything. Probably a passenger is missing. Just to be sure, I check the location of my AirTag, and my suitcase is there. At one point, I even recognize it. It was loaded last, so I hope it will be delivered first.

IMG_1107

I’ll keep my fingers crossed until the very end that the seat next to me stays empty, but its occupant will arrive at the last minute.

We are given bottles of water before the doors close, which is no luxury given the heat.

We are finally ready to go, but taxiing to the runway takes forever. For those in the know, this is runway 36L, which I also call the runway at the end of the world.

IMG_1109

We finally take off and the service begins quickly. It must be said that it’s only a 1 hour 10 minute flight from Amsterdam to Gothenburg.

Korean-style noodle salad with tofu and tuna sashimi garnished with black sesame seeds, banana chips, and assorted macarons.

IMG_1115

What I like about KLM is that they often serve fairly fresh and spicy Asian-inspired dishes, which I often prefer to the somewhat bland European cuisine served on flights.

A real treat.

I finish the flight watching a series that fits the occasion.

IMG_1117

Very quickly, the Swedish ground appears beneath the clouds and we prepare to land.

IMG_1119

Arrival

We land and, thanks to the size of the airport, we arrive at our gate very quickly.

IMG_1120

On the other hand, baggage delivery will take forever….

Crew

Nothing to report, neither negative nor particularly positive.

Bottom line

A smooth flight, nothing to complain about, but nothing to get excited about either.
