SAS lounge in Gothenburg : nice but perfectible catering

The SAS lounge at Gothenburg Landvetter airport is like most of the airline’s lounges: beautiful and warm but lacking in catering.

In Gothenburg I have the choice between two lounges: this SAS lounge and the Vinga lounge. I have access to the first one since I travel on SAS and am Diamond with SAS (Star Alliance Gold) and to the second one because it is a Priority Pass lounge. Having frequented the Vinga a lot lately (especially since the SAS was closed for a long time following the COVID), I will wait for my flight to Copenhagen in the lounge of the Scandinavian airline.

You will find a list of all the articles about this trip in Malaysia at the bottom of the page.

Location of the lounge

The lounge is very well located: in front of you at the exit of the duty free area that you are forced to cross after the security checks. And given the size of the Landvetter airport you are never far from your boarding gate.

Eligibility for the lounge

The lounge is open to Gold and Diamond members of the SAS Eurobonus program, Star Alliance Gold status holders on partner airlines and Star Alliance passengers traveling at least in business class.

Lounge layout

Access to the lounge is controlled by gates at the entrance where you scan your boarding pass.

You arrive in a first space where you will find a lounging area…

…next to high tables more suitable for eating. All this with a superb view on the runways offered by these large windows.

A corridor along a large bay window leads to another area. It is also equipped as a dining space.

Then a second room, quieter.

We find overall the codes of the Scandinavian airline with a design and an atmosphere quite recognizable.

A very pleasant little lounge where I appreciate the large glass windows which make it very bright (at other times of the day) and allow me to admire the ballet of the planes.

Food options

It’s breakfast time.

The solid offer is composed of cold cuts, vegetables to compose a salad, yoghurts, and the only hot component is the oatmeal.

As far as drinks are concerned, there are the traditional hot drinks (tea, coffee), a soft drink fountain, beer and wine at the tap!

It does the job but it is a little light and lacks variety. In particular the hot offer, largely insufficient. A constant at SAS.

Lounge facilities

The lounge has toilets, but there are too few of them: even when it is not very busy, there is often a queue, so much so that I used the ones located outside the lounge.

Atmosphere

Pleasant, calm, restful.

Bottom line

A very nice lounge, as always at SAS, but insufficient catering, as always at SAS too.
