Plaza Premium Lounge, Kuala Lumpur: a very worn lounge

It’s already over… While I finally didn’t have much time to visit the city, it’s already time to come back from this trip, with this first step that brings me back to Singapore.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Today’s itinerary

Check-in and ground experience

I check-in online 48 hours before the departure of my flight to Singapore.

Unlike the outbound flight,I have the ability to upload my vaccination certificate to the airline’s app, which allows me to get a mobile boarding pass.

On the day of departure, I leave the hotel about 3 hours before departure and as the St. St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is located a few steps from KL Sentral, I will take the KLIA Ekspress, the fast shuttle to the airport.

The latter serves KLIA and KLIA 2, the low-cost terminal.

After having released me of 55 ringgits, I borrow this shuttle, from now on systematically omnibus since the COVID.

In 40 minutes, I will be in the departure area of the airport.

I pass the Singapore Airlines check-in area without stopping. Dedicated areas for each class and for loyal passengers are available… But the Business line seems the busiest of all!

Immigration will be passed in the blink of an eye.

Location and welcome

While Singapore Airlines normally offers a lounge in Kuala Lumpur due to its frequencies to the Malaysian city.

Nevertheless, the COVID crisis still leaves this lounge closed for the time being, and the city-state airline uses the all-company lounge, the Plaza Premium.

The latter is located on the mezzanine of satellite C and is accessible via escalators, after taking the automatic shuttle that links the satellite to the main terminal.

The welcome at the lounge is very warm and after checking my eligibility, I am invited to enter the lounge. Singapore Airlines passengers can order unlimited alcoholic beverages from the bar.

Lounge design

The design of the lounge is quite dated. There are lounging and dining areas available, but the whole thing is of questionable taste, and all the spaces are crammed together.

In addition, the furniture is really worn out. Not a very pleasant lounge.

Catering

The food offer, at least at breakfast time, was very poor. I’ll settle for buttered toast and avoid the orange juice stuffed with ice cubes.

Bottom line

A really mediocre lounge, I can’t wait for the reopening of the other lounges of the platform!
