As we are 35 minutes away from boarding, I decide to leave the Singapore Airlines lounge while my flight to Zurich is still in Gate Open, and therefore boarding has not started.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
As I arrived at gate A14, the agent in charge of boarding passengers First approached me and recognized me. He invites me to cut off the entire Economy and Business queue, and I go straight through the security check.
Same thing for the scanning of the boarding passes, the podium is opened directly to me, and I can chat with the boarding agent, who tells me that the flight is 100% full in the 4 classes. And that it’s been like that for a month!
The agent accompanies me to the gateway, where another agent escorts me to the door.
I arrive when the door is empty, I wait a few seconds and am invited to settle down by the First Classcabin manager.
Cabin and welcome
I find the cabin that I had had on the outbound trip. Sober, elegant and super comfortable. I can’t wait to sleep there again!
I am the last passenger to settle in and quickly, a glass of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle is brought to me.
The cabin is already equipped with the menus and the toiletry kit, identical to the one in the aisle.
Pajamas are brought to me, as well as some snacks to accompany the welcome drink. The cheese snacks will be excellent but themicro-kebab that accompanies them will be pointless. I would not have a refill proposal during this pre-take off time.
We will leave about 30 minutes behind schedule.
Service and catering
Dinner service
A few minutes after takeoff, the table is set up by the flight attendant serving in First class, but I must say, with little elegance. The cutlery is almost thrown on the table and even if all the service gestures are done with a big smile, everything is done with a very unpleasant impression of optimization of gestures.
As an aperitif, a glass of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle is brought, without aperitif.
As a starter, I will order the excellent Balik salmon offered by Swiss, as well as a plate of Swiss charcuterie.
The soup will be very disappointing, the carrot-ginger mixture was just not successful this time.
For the main course, I will take the steamed cod, served with a very spicy tomato sauce, but without much interest.
I will skip the cheese this time to finish on a sweet (and excellent) note with the cheesecake, accompanied by a mint infusion.
Rest
I am already starting to doze off when dessert is brought to me and I will sleep for 8h30 without any interruption. A record!
The comfort of the bed offered by Swiss is just exceptional, and the bed very well made.
Breakfast service
About 1h45 before landing, I emerge from my night. An espresso and an orange juice are brought to me while the set up is done.
I’ll skip the hot options, and have a continental breakfast that will fit right in. Special mention for the yogurt which will be excellent, as well as for the cheeses matured to perfection.
A refill of coffee is brought to me (but not two) and I will finish the flight by watching some Air Crash Investigation.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive at the gate less than 10 minutes behind schedule. At the gate, the SWISS First driver will wait for all passengers to pass through immigration control and direct them to their connections.
Not a very premium experience but efficient and fast.
Bottom line
A very good flight, magnified by the very qualitative SWISS hard product. The crew is a big step down from the one on the outbound trip: smiling, but trying to optimize their work which makes the experience less premium. Shame.
