The La Première lounge is always a pleasant experience, even for relatively short connections and when there is no long-haul flight ahead.
Arriving from Singapore and connecting to Amsterdam, this was my first opportunity to visit this lounge on a return flight. It doesn’t change the service, apart from the fact that the stay is generally shorter and that, from a purely psychological point of view, you don’t get to enjoy the magic of a long-haul flight in Air France’s first class cabin, but just a medium-haul business class flight with the prospect of returning home, although in my case I still have a short stay in Gothenburg before the end of this trip.
You will find a summary of the articles on these holidays in Singapore and Bali at the bottom of the page.
This article will be short and focus on the experience of this visit to the lounge. Please refer to the article on the outbound flight for a more comprehensive presentation.
Lounge location
It’s on the 2E-K, on the first floor, in the duty-free area after security, but it doesn’t matter because whether you’re on foot or in a car, you’ll never get there alone without an escort and on your own.
Access to the lounge
It is one of the most restrictive lounges.
It is reserved for passengers traveling in La Première on Air France or connecting from a flight in this cabin.
It is possible to purchase access on an exceptional basis, but under very restrictive conditions:
- Travel in Business Class on a long-haul flight operated by Air France.
- The flight must not offer La Première cabin service.
- Have traveled in La Première at least once in the last 12 months.
- The ticket must be issued by Air France.
- Access is subject to availability and may be refused in the event of high visitor numbers.
Layout and design
Please refer to my previous article on this subject.
Catering
The lounge has a restaurant (see previous article), but having already had breakfast on the flight, I decided to just have some cold cuts from the self-service buffet, accompanied by tea and water.
The charcuterie here is always very good.
The experience
I was accompanied to the lounge by an Air France agent in a Porsche SUV who, during the journey, explained the recent improvements made to the ground experience for La Première passengers, including the Vestibule, which welcomes passengers who are not connecting and do not have access to the lounge.
In the past, we were accompanied directly to the baggage carousel, and the break with the overall experience was a bit abrupt.
When we arrive at the lounge, he will take my passport to complete the immigration formalities for me. The lounge also has its own security check when required by the flight.
So I read this short correspondence aloud in a completely empty lounge. It is 5:30 in the morning and I am the first passenger of the day.
The agent will come to see me several times to tell me that my flight to Amsterdam will be delayed but that I don’t need to worry: he will only come to get me when boarding has started.
He finally came to get me and drove me to the plane. I later learned that I had missed Victor Wembayama by a few minutes; he was being escorted to the lounge when I left.
Facilities
The lounge has rest areas, toilets and showers, and private suites can now be booked.
Atmosphere
Very quiet because I was alone, but it’s generally a quiet and relaxing place.
Bottom line
A stay that was too short, but an experience that is unmatched on the market.
