The first stop on the second leg of our summer vacation, with a quick trip to the lounge before our flight to Chicago.
Check-In and ground experience
We arrive at Boston Logan’s Terminal B about 2 hours 15 minutes before our flight to Chicago. The check-in area was jam-packed (for once, I’ve got a bag to check…) and we waited about twenty minutes after using the kiosks to drop off our luggage.
We then head for the TSA checkpoint, which takes just a few seconds for my wife, who has the PreCheck system, and a few minutes longer for me, who used the classic priority queue.
Location and welcome
The lounge has not changed, and is adjacent to gate B4. The welcome is pleasant and we are invited into the lounge after checking our eligibility.
Lounge design
The design of the lounge hasn’t changed, and the spaces are numerous and varied. It was moderately busy at the time of our visit, and we settled into two comfortable leather armchairs by the window.
Catering
Despite American’s recent announcements about catering in the lounges, we didn’t notice any difference with our previous experience. It’s already very good, with scrambled eggs, bacon and breads.
Bottom line
A solid experience, but no difference with American’s post-upmarket Admirals Club experience.
