British Airways Club World Suite, New-York JFK – London Heathrow, Boeing 777-300ER: Solid with good service

After waiting a good two hours in the Chelsea lounge, it was time to board our flight to London Heathrow.

Boarding

Boarding was originally scheduled 40 minutes before the departure time, began ten minutes late and in great confusion.

A brief announcement began with the passengers in group 0, of which I was… But this was followed so quickly by group 1, with a zoo in front of me, that I obviously could not board.

Europeans definitely have a lot to learn from Americans when it comes to boarding with a certain organization… And BA too, because implementing a new ultra-priority group requires a certain organization.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome at the door, however, was charming and cheerful, and I made my way to my 09K suite.

Note that this was not the seat I had originally reserved, but the seat adjoining my wife’s, 09E, but it was inoperative.

So I was reassigned to 09K, a solo suite, separated from my wife by the aisle.

During boarding, a tray of champagne and orange juice was presented, and this time I chose orange juice (preferring to stay on a positive note after the LPGS in the lounge).

The menus for this short flight to London Heathrow were then distributed:

We pushed back about 15 minutes late, but with an announced flight time of 5:50, the announced arrival time was 7:30, 50 minutes ahead of schedule.

Amenity kits had not been loaded, so were not distributed.

Before take-off, orders for the first service were taken on the ground. I just ordered a glass of port and skipped the rest of the meal.

Service and catering

The service started a few minutes after take-off.

While waiting to be served, I installed the very thin mattress topper provided by British Airways and sponsored by The White Company, as well as the very comfortable comforter that kept me warm throughout the night.

The flight attendant serving my area quickly brought the port with some nuts, and a few minutes later, watching some videos on my iPad, I fell asleep.

After about 4h30 of sleep, I woke up with 1 hour left in the flight. A flight attendant quickly realized this and asked me if I’d like breakfast, which I refused but ordered a café au lait, which was promptly brought to me along with some excellent shortbreads.

Arrival and disembarkation

Because of the long taxi time at JFK, we were scheduled to land at Heathrow 40 minutes early.

IMG_5136

The taxi time was short… but we were parked just off boarding pier C in London’s Terminal 5.

The buses took about fifteen minutes to arrive, immigration was cleared in a flash thanks to the automatic border controls, and our baggage took also about fifteen minutes to arrive, but were the first of our flight on the carrousel.

Bottom line

A solid flight, dedicated to rest. And this time, no equipment change.
