We left the British Airways Concorde Room about 45 minutes before our flight to Boston was due to depart.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
Our flight departed from gate C55. To get to this gate, we took the automated shuttle linking T5A and T5C, stopping at the second stop.
When we arrived at this boarding gate, our flight was about to board and this majestic A380 was ready.
Seconds later, Group 1 boarding was called and we boarded.
Cabin and welcome
The 3 boarding jetbridges were attached to the aircraft, and we took the jetbridge up to the upper deck.
The cabin was the traditional British Airways Ying-Yang, similar to the one on our outbound flight.
On the seat, bedding and a comfortable pillow were positioned, along with the amenity kit.
A welcome drink was offered, and I chose a glass of champagne.
During the boarding process, menus were distributed, and my order was given priority thanks to my GGL status.
Service and catering
Service began a few minutes after take-off from London Heathrow.
The drink is brought in, and I chose a glass of Sauvignon Blanc served with a glass of water and a Premium nut mix.
The meal was then served.
For starter, I chose the sweet potato salad, which was very fresh.
For main course, I chose the fish and wasabi purée, a pity the fish was overcooked.
I skipped dessert and had mint tea with a large glass of water to round off the meal.
During the cruise, while most of the cabin is asleep, I had a couple of double Bailey’s and some excellent shortbreads.
The second meal was served an hour before landing, and I had the quiche, which was very good.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrived at the gate on time, and immigration was very swift.
Bottom line
A solid flight in an outdated cabin.
