Before the last leg of our itinerary, we had the pleasure of enjoying the Chelsea Lounge once again before returning to Boston…
Connection process
After dropping off our luggage at the post-customs drop-off point, we returned to the departure level. The rest of the process is similar to a departure with American Airlines at JFK.
Once we reached the departures level, we proceeded to the Flagship First check-in area, which also accommodates oneworld Emerald passengers, and having already received our boarding passes, we proceeded directly to the subsequent security check.
My wife used the TSA Pre line, while I went through the line opened to all passengers. The connecting route at JFK from London Heathrow is not so different from a classic departure route. From Baggage Recheck, you have to exit to the public area and then return to the departures level.
Thanks to my Gold Guest List status, I could use the Flagship zone to access the security checkpoint.
My wife was airside again in the blink of an eye, thanks to TSA PreCheck.
It took a few minutes longer for me.
Location and welcome
The lounge had not changed location and was still on the mezzanine of the terminal’s main boarding area, adjoining the Soho lounge for Oneworld Emerald passengers.
The welcome was very courteous, and our eligibility confirmed without any issue. The lounge was still located on the mezzanine of the main boarding area of terminal 8, just after the TSA checkpoint. It is located on the right after the security checkpoint, accessible by elevator, and co-located with the Soho lounge already reported here.
The welcome was excellent and we were admitted to the lounge after checking our eligibility.
Lounge design
The lounge is very elegant. And unlike our last visit, it was virtually deserted when we arrived. This time we moved into one of the cosy areas in the center of the lounge, and had a brief lunch in the dining room during our stay. The lounge design is superb, and this time I could take photos without any problem.
The only thing missing is a view of the tarmac, which is available in the adjoining Soho lounge.
Catering
The food and beverage offer was excellent, with an exclusively à la carte menu of excellent quality.
My wife ordered a cold pea soup, while I will ordered a ricotta pasta dish, which was excellent.
For beverages, the menu was extensive, especially for champagne, with a classical offer and a Premium offer, essentially oriented around the Laurent Perrier house.
I had a few glasses of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle during my stay in the lounge. The food and beverage offer is almost exclusively à la carte, and can be served anywhere in the lounge.
A small buffet with coconut macaroons and excellent cookies was also available.
The champagne list was excellent, and I continued with Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle.
Bottom line
A very pleasant stay, with a much more attentive service than on our first visit, no doubt due to the much smaller number of visitors. An excellent salon in which I enjoyed staying again.
