British Airways Concorde Room, London Heathrow T5: Excellent service as usual

After a restful night at the Sofitel London Heathrow, it was time to fly back to Boston on British Airways.

Check-in and ground experience

I checked in using the British Airways app 24 hours before the departure of our flights to New York and Boston.

Unfortunately, and no doubt due to the fact that we had booked through a travel agency (American Express Travel), check-in was only partially successful: I couldn’t get my PDF boarding pass, and the Passbook card didn’t display either the group or the status… This smacks of SSSS!

On the morning of departure, we walked about ten minutes from the Sofitel London Heathrow, adjoining Terminal 5, and had to cross the entire terminal to get to The First Wing, the check-in area reserved for First and Oneworld Emerald passengers.

We were promptly attended by a check-in agent, who unfortunately had to re-enter all our passport and visa details by hand. She was nevertheless very courteous, and despite the tedious task, everything was done in good spirits.

Our luggage was checked through to Boston, and our boarding passes were delivered to Boston.

Once these formalities were completed, we proceeded to the security checkpoint dedicated to First passengers, and the formalities were completed in less than 5 minutes.

Location and welcome

The lounge was located in the Galleries South lounge complex, on the second floor of the Galleries South block.

We reached it using The First Wing, crossing the Galleries First lounge.

The welcome was warm and friendly, and after checking our eligibility, we were invited into the lounge.

Lounge design

The design of the Concorde Room had not changed since our last visit, apart from a few pieces of furniture that had been replaced to refresh the design.

Catering

The food offering during our visit was the English Breakfast, but as we already had breakfast ar our hotel 1 hour before, we just had a few drinks to wait: an English Breakfast Tea for my wife, a double espresso and a Bucks Fizz (a mimosa with Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle) for me.

Bottom Line

A short stay, but as enjoyable as ever in this exclusive London hub.
