For the last flight of our itinerary, we left the lounge a few minutes before the theoretical boarding time. As our flight was boarding from the second pier, we took it and received a text message indicating a 20-minute delay in departure. Either way. We took our seats a few gates away, and after another 15-minute delay, boarding began.
Boarding
Priorities were strictly respected, and boarding for serving military personnel and Group 1 began at the same time.
We boarded 35 minutes behind schedule.
Cabin and welcome
The welcome was warm and cheerful, and we entered this American Airlines regional cabin configured in 1-2.
We were in the second row of this cabin, which could do with a good scrubbing!
Despite the time taken during boarding, no welcome drink was offered.
The captain took the floor to tell us several times that our departure time was delayed, and in the end we pushed back 1 hour late.
After a few minutes of taxi, the captain took the floor again to inform us of a further delay to take-off, and then to inform us of a return to the terminal due to a ground stop in Boston.
So back to gate 35 this time.
Wait and boarding n°2
We disembarked in the terminal and were invited to stay close to the boarding gate while waiting for further information.
We were kept informed by the gate agent and were able to re-board about 2h45 after the original time.
We left after waiting another 30 minutes on board.
Service and catering
Service was provided on the ground during the first wait. Drinks were ordered and served on the ground.
I also ordered a cranberry juice.
The snack basket was also presented and I took a bag of honey-glazed pistachios.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrived at the gate almost 3.5 hours behind schedule, exhausted. Our luggage was nevertheless delivered very quickly and were in our Uber less than 10 minutes after arriving at the gate.
Bottom Line
An unbearable delay that left us exhausted.
