Personal trip to the UK

For personal reasons, my wife and I had to travel urgently to the UK for a family event.

The opportunity to come back to London for a few days before heading to the Channel coast and then back to Boston.

Flights and transportation

For flights, it’s hard to find good fares 15 days before departure. In miles, almost impossible, there’s always one way that doesn’t fit.

The only option we found is a cash option, and we used a bunch of Membership Rewards points from American Express to book two Business Class tickets that were priced at $2500 each, not too bad without self-connect, on British Airways, a good way to visit for the first time the Chelsea lounge on both ways.

Lodging

For hotels, we stayed at the JW Marriott London Grosvenor, ideally located and accessible on points, as my Ambassador qualification was already secured for 2023.

For Brighton, we stayed at the Hilton Metropole, recently rebranded as a DoubleTree, before returning to Heathrow and staying at the Sofitel adjacent to Terminal 5.
