After a few dozen minutes in the Concorde Room and an excellent breakfast, it was time to board the plane for New York.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
As our flight will be boarding from the C gates, we will head to the latter as soon as boarding is announced on the lounge’s FIDS.
In First Class, it is obvious that the boarding Group 1 is guaranteed, and it finishes boarding when we arrive at the gate.
We are then invited to embark via the escalator that descends into the gateway.
Cabin and welcome
We are greeted at the door and escorted to our seats, 01E and 01F, in the first row of the First Class cabin.
Despite the presence of Club suites in Business Class, it is the old First Class cabin that we will have this day, which remains nevertheless very pleasant.
We are immediately offered a glass of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle, which we happily accept, with a complementary glass of sparkling water.
Comfort kits, very comprehensive, are also distributed.
The menus follow, elegant and really appealing.
Pajamas are also distributed.
We then take off at the scheduled time.
Service and catering
The service begins shortly after the seatbelt sign is switched off.
I will continue with Champagne for the aperitif, which is brought with the amuse bouche: a little disappointing, basic.
I will choose as a starter the salmon tartar with hollandaise sauce: it will be excellent, very fresh.
My wife chose the beef carpaccio, black truffle cream, parmesan, asparagus: a killer according to her, probably one of the best starters ever eaten on a plane.
I’ll take the chicken as a main course: super tender, perfect sauce. As a side dish, the corn gnocchi will be exceptional. A simple dish but cooked with care.
The cheeses will also be very good, as well as the ice cream. But we still expect something more elaborate in First Class.
I’ll finish the meal with an espresso, a Bailey’s on the rocks and a small chocolate.
After a few hours of nap, an afternoon tea is served before arrival, so British!
Everything is served on ad hoc dishes: excellent in every way, both in quantity and quality. Special mention for the very fine pastries.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive on time at New-York JFK T7. No flight having arrived just before us, the immigration will be deserted and we will take 2 minutes to find ourselves landside.
Bottom line
An excellent flight, without wrong note or almost. BA delivers a very solid First Class product.
