After a short hour’s work in the lounge, it was time to board the first leg of our London itinerary with this short domestic segment to New York.
Boarding
Boarding took place at gate B11 and started right on time. Priority was given to handicapped boarding, followed by group 1, which included us.
The boarding agent was particularly fussy about the number of pieces of hand luggage, despite our First seat.
Cabin and welcome
The cabin of American’s Embraer 175s is configured as 1-2 with 4 rows of First and 2-2 in the rest of the cabin.
The welcome was courteous, and we take our seats in the third row of the First cabin.
No welcome drink was provided, and we had to wait almost 25 minutes on a taxiway due to arrival restrictions at JFK.
Service and catering
Service began a few minutes into the flight.
The order was be taken by the flight attendant, and the drink brought a few minutes later, an apple juice for me.
I took a few sweets from the snack basket and then worked for the rest of the flight.
Arrival and disembarkation
We landed at JFK at the scheduled gate arrival time, then arrived at the gate about 25 minutes behind schedule.
We landed on one of the runways opposite terminal 8, then literally circled the airport before arriving at our gate.
Bottom line
A very average flight, with an unmotivated crew and above all a rather unpleasant and recurrent delay on the New York platform.
