Bangkok Airways Economy, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi – Koh Samui, Airbus A319 : Very decent but packed to the gills

After a little more than an hour in the Bangkok Airways lounge and while we still have to go through security, we leave the lounge.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Today’s itinerary

Boarding

We pass through security very quickly and find ourselves airside, on the A-gate side.

We embark today from gate A5, located at the very end of this concourse. After a few minutes of patience, the boarding is called (10 minutes later than the scheduled time) and we proceed into the gangway among the first passengers.

Cabin and welcome

The cabin of this Bangkok Airways A319-100 has had its heyday. It is now well worn. But fortunately, the seats are well maintained and very comfortable.

I settle down in 1E while my wife is in 1F. The crew gladly helps us to put our luggage in the racks.

Service and catering

The service starts as soon as the seatbell lights are switched off.

And it is a 1/2 tray that is served in economy class (the only class available on this flight) with a cold sandwich, a dessert, a small carton of sweetened soya milk and a bottle of water. Very decent for a 55 minute domestic flight!

The whole thing will be of medium quality.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive at the car park about ten minutes behind schedule.

In Koh Samui, no gangways, but only remote parking stations with open-air mini-shuttles, and external boarding gates… Can’t wait to see this on the return trip!

Bottom line

An uneventful, extremely smooth flight from the Thai capital to the island of Koh Samui!
