Boarding
Large aircraft board from Aisle B for domestic flights at Bangkok Airport. As our flight is operated in a 747-400, it is no exception and we board from gate B6 in the late afternoon.
Thai Airways allows only 30 minutes between the scheduled boarding time and the departure time. Too short?
Boarding begins at exactly the scheduled time, and priority passengers are called first.
We are among the first passengers to board. Thai uses two jetways: one for Business and First passengers and one for Economy passengers.
Boarding will be completed in 15 minutes. Impressive.
Cabin and welcome
We are greeted by two smiling cabin crew who accompany us to our seats. Although only marketed in Business, passengers connecting to an international First, as well as Star Alliance Gold passengers, are given priority in the cabin used for First Class if the aircraft is used for an international flight.
A good choice for us, this is one of the 747-400s with the mini-suites layout, the most recent on Thai. In my opinion, even more comfortable than the one positioned in the Thai A380-800.
As we settle in, we are served a soft welcome drink with cold oshibori.
I will take a lot of pictures and will be able to stay next to my wife, leaving the porthole to a single person.
Service and catering
The service starts as soon as 10,000 feet is reached, the flight being extremely short.
Yes, on Thai, for a domestic flight a hot meal is served. It is a standard in Asia, but always appreciated by European customers.
The meal will be excellent, and the service perfect, with several refills of drinks.
No alcoholic drinks, except for beer.
Arrival and disembarkation
We will arrive in Phuket on time. Having used the International to Domestic circuit in Bangkok, we followed a specific disembarkation circuit in Phuket, as we had to collect our luggage on the international conveyor belt.
They will arrive in priority, with the HON Circle tag affixed in Paris.
Bottom line
A great flight to finally arrive at our destination, which will allow us to get married.
