True to the brand’s reputation, the Singapore Edition offers a luxurious hotel experience and tasteful design, all in the context of Singapore, which is known to be one of the most demanding cities in the world in this segment.
Unlike Olivier, I had never had the opportunity to try Edition hotels before. It is a fairly new brand from Marriott that could be described as a version of St Regis designed more for a young, urban clientele. It was created with the aim of reinventing luxury hotels by infusing them with an emotional, artistic, and local dimension. Each property is designed as a microcosm of the city that hosts it, blending contemporary design, local culture, and personalized services.
You will find a summary of the articles on these holidays in Singapore and Bali at the bottom of the page.
Booking
Initially, I was considering hotels that were less upscale than the Edition, but as time went by, I noticed that their rates were increasing, while, strangely enough, the Edition’s rates were decreasing.
I finally booked an Urban room (the entry-level category) which I paid for with my points.
I also used my suite night awards to request an upgrade to a garden suite and Cuscaden suite because I know from experience that they are a bit stingy with “natural” upgrades here.
I check availability regularly before my arrival and see that the hotel is far from full. A few hours before my arrival, I receive confirmation of an upgrade to a Cuscaden suite with an urban view.
Location of the hotel
It is located near Orchard Road, a very dynamic business and shopping area with a large number of hotels. It is a little outside the city center and not particularly cultural, but it is convenient and well served by the subway.
It is located right across from the St. Regis Singapore, which did not impress me.
Arrival and check-in
I checked in online the day before my arrival using the Marriott mobile app and arrived in the late afternoon.
Check-in is fast and the staff are extremely friendly and professional. I am offered a welcome drink. As my flight is late in the evening, I am allowed to check out at 5:00 p.m., which is greatly appreciated.
I don’t linger and hurry to my room to get ready for dinner.
The room
I arrive at my room after walking down a long corridor where there is a hushed silence, a bit like being wrapped in cotton wool.
The entrance opens onto a large living room.
The style is simple and clean, with a mix of white and wood tones. Almost Scandinavian.
Curtains and shutters are electrically controlled.
Right next door is the bedroom.
Large bed and high-quality, very comfortable bedding. Here again, there is nothing superfluous and simplicity is the order of the day.
After the bedroom, there is a dressing room.
Finally, we come to the bathroom.
It has a bathtub…
…as well as a shower.
Fans of this style will be happy to find Japanese-style toilets…
A very beautiful room whose simple style I really appreciate, with no hint of bad taste.
We end with the usual video tour.
Facilities
The hotel has a gym, a swimming pool and a spa.
The gym is well equipped, spacious, and very quiet.
The swimming pool is outside and on the upper floor.
As for the spa, I didn’t try any treatments but relaxed in the “wet zone.”
It consists of a jacuzzi, a sauna, and a steam room.
Very pretty but perhaps a little disappointing.
Bar and restaurant
The hotel has two bars and a restaurant.
I will skip the bar located by the pool, which I did not try.
I haven’t tried the restaurant either.
However, I did go to the main bar, located next to the lobby.
A truly beautiful place.
The bar itself is impressive.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great cocktail menu, electro vibe with background music that’s not at all intrusive. Quite lively atmosphere in the evening.
Service
Professional and extremely friendly staff. Really perfect.
Check-out
I will check out on the mobile app and leave the hotel without having to go back to reception.
Bottom line
A high-quality experience in a beautiful property that I can only recommend.
