Review : Air France Economy post-COVID, Amsterdam-Paris, Airbus A320-100

As part of a long-planned business trip that was moved several times during the lockdown period, I have to go to Stockholm for business over a weekend.

In this context, I booked the simplest option from Paris, i.e. a departure on Air France then a return with a connection, forced, on KLM, Air France operating the destination only 4 times a week (and not on Saturday).

For this last segment, I use the national airline, the only option to avoid an overnight stop in Amsterdam.

Most screening stations are inoperative

Boarding

After a passage to the non-Schengen lounge forced by the closing of the KLM Crowne Lounge 25, I have to go through immigration again in the other direction which will be done in a few seconds.

Visit to a deserted Schiphol
The corridors at Schiphol are deserted
Some Duty Free shops remain open

The boarding is done at the D gates and I have to take the lift again, the usual escalator not being functional.

The flight was delayed by almost 40 minutes

The departure lounge is full, with the flight delayed by almost an hour.

Priority boarding will be respected

Unlike at CDG, priority boarding is respected here, as SkyPriority passengers are called first.

Almost in pole position

Cabin and reception

The welcome is a bit cold.

I take my seat, 5D, as I am the second passenger on board.

Air France’s traditional and elegant Smart&Beyond cabin on this short flight to Paris

The occupancy will be very low, but I will still have a distant neighbour in 5F.

The cabin is the usual Smart&Beyond version with leather seats, and correct pitch.

Service and catering

No services are carried out on board, even water, and even in Business. There will be only one Business passenger on this flight, who will not even be givena an oshibori and a bottle of water.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive in the first peninsula of Terminal 2F. A border crossing is required with the presentation of the certificate requested by the government.

The baggage delivery room at CDG 2F, completely empty

Terminal 2F is absolutely empty, as is the baggage claim area.

Only one Alitalia flight to Fiumicino remains at departure

Bottom line

A flight without history but without service… The beginnings of the future in the European majors on flights of less than 2h30?
