KLM Europe Business Class, Amsterdam Schiphol – Londres Heathrow, Boeing 737-800NG : quite a standard flight

This is a sporty connection! With only 45 minutes to go before our next flight to London, we had to wander through the corridors of Schiphol before we could board.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Today’s itinerary

Connection circuit

Coming from Mexico, a non-Schengen country, and going to the United Kingdom which is in the same case, only a simple security check is necessary.

We arrive when there are only a few people in front of us, but it will take almost 10 minutes, while theoretically, you should not take anything out of your bag!

And I don’t want to tell you how friendly the attendants were in Czechoslovakian hammer thrower mode…

Anyway, at H-25, we are past security checks and run to gate D8 which handles document checks for the UK. Everything is OK, we already had the mention Ready2Fly on our boarding passes so after a sticker and a stamp, we can board towards the “real” boarding gate of the flight, gate D47.

Boarding

We arrive at the gate while boarding has already started and the SkyPriority line has even finished. We go through this line and are given priority by the ground staff.

So more fear than harm.

Cabin and welcome

We board just after the end of the SkyPriority boarding.

This is KLM’s new medium-haul cabin, all in shades of blue. Very nice.

We don’t have far to go to get settled, since we are in seats 01D and F.

Service and catering

As the flight is very short, the service starts right after take-off. A box, designated by Marcel Wanders, is distributed to us.

I’ve heard a lot of criticism about this box, but compared to what is served by Air France on a similar route, it is very decent.

The Caesar salad will be absolutely delicious and will delight my wife, as will the cherry cake.

The service will be absolutely attentive and charming.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at Heathrow about ten minutes ahead of schedule.

And even though we will wait quite a long time, our luggage will arrive at the same time, a great KLM performance.

Bottom line

Honestly an excellent medium haul flight, a real positive difference in service between the two airlines of the Air France-KLM group. And a very decent operational performance.
