As I needed to be in the area for a meeting, I booked a stay at this ideally located hotel, which looked promising on paper.
Booking
I made the reservation about a week before my planned arrival, using my company’s Corporate code.
My Ambassador status came through as I was upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite—a rare treat in the U.S. worth noting!
Arrival
I completed the online check-in process 48 hours before my arrival and indicated my arrival time of 11 a.m.
I took the metro from Reagan Airport and walked about 15 minutes from the nearest station, arriving at the hotel shortly after 11.
Check-in was smooth, and I was warmly greeted by the receptionist, who completed the formalities.
My suite upgrade was confirmed, and I was informed it was ready immediately. I was also offered a 4 p.m. late check-out, though I mentioned I wouldn’t need it.
The bellman escorted me to the elevator, pointing out the hotel’s amenities, and I was quickly settled into my suite.
Suite
My suite was on the 4th floor of the hotel’s west wing.
The entrance opened onto a long hallway with a closet and a guest powder room.
At the end of the hallway was the living room, which featured a desk, a large sofa, and a TV, all set by a wide window letting in plenty of light.
A double door led to the bedroom, which had a very comfortable king-size bed flanked by two nightstands and an armchair by the window, facing a second TV.
On the other side of the room, there was a console with a Nespresso machine.
A second closet with a safe led to the spacious bathroom, which had a bathtub, double sinks, a large shower, and a separate toilet.
A comfortable suite, though not entirely up to the latest decor standards, it was impeccably maintained. For a closer look, here’s the video tour.
To finish, a video tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a fitness center and a spa, both located in the basement.
Gym
The fitness center is open 24/7 and accessible with a room key.
Though small, like the hotel, it’s well-equipped with top-of-the-line machines.
I managed to fit in two workouts during my stay.
Spa
I used the spa for an 80-minute men’s treatment massage on the second day of my stay.
The facilities (sauna, steam room, and changing rooms) are of high quality. While the decor is somewhat outdated, maintenance is impeccable.
The treatment was decent, though not outstanding, and unfortunately, the pricing was rather high.
Catering
The hotel’s main dining option is Degrees Bistro, located on the ground floor next to the lobby.
Dinner – Degrees Bistro
For both nights of my stay, I dined at the hotel restaurant, which was surprisingly empty.
On the first night, I ordered an excellent Negroni.
Bread and butter were served before the meal and were very good.
I had the steak, which was extremely tender, with fresh and well-prepared fries.
On the second night, I ordered the scallops, which were excellent.
Breakfast – Degrees Bistro
For my first morning, I had breakfast at the restaurant and ordered eggs.
The meal was very good, though I found it stingy that the cappuccino wasn’t included in the breakfast package.
Service
The service at this hotel was excellent in every way, well above the current U.S. standards.
Departure
The check-out process was quick and easy, and my invoice was promptly sent by email.
Bottom line
An outstanding stay in every respect.
