One week after my return from Hungary, I was back on a European itinerary. This time, it was the Paris Air Forum that took me to Europe, as well as a planned weekend with friends in Madrid.
Transportation
For flights, given that I needed to renew my Star Alliance Gold status soon, I opted to use Scandinavian Airlines, the airline of my frequent flyer program, for my transatlantic flights.
I chose to try out Scandinavian’s new Airbus A321XLR, which operates between Copenhagen and Boston. Around 45 days before departure, I received a cancellation notice for this flight, and a rebooking for the next day, which was not possible due to my Parisian commitments. I therefore chose to rebook via Washington D.C., with the first segment operated by United.

For the route to Madrid, I flew the Portuguese carrier TAP, in order to maximize my base earnings in the Scandinavian Airlines program for my Star Aliance Gold status. For a little over €400 return and 8,000 status miles for the SAS program that I booked.
Lodging
For accommodation, and to test out new properties, I booked at the Le Parchamp hotel in Boulogne-Billancourt, which is in fact a former Courtyard Marriott that was renovated as Tribute Portfolio.
As for Madrid, I tried The EDITION, a brand I particularly like, and that I never tried in the Spanish capital.
For my return to Paris, I stayed at the Moxy Val d’Europe, as the other Parisian hotels were overpriced due to the Paris Air Show.
For my Scandinavian connection, I stayed at the Moxy Oslo X, the city’s only Marriott hotel.
