For our second stay at Matild Palace, we booked both nights at the Spago restaurant, run by the iconic chef Wolfgang Puck. Although we’d dined at this restaurant before, I can confirm twice that the experience is always excellent. Here’s a look back at these two dinners.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
The concept
The concept is quite simple: a highly successful gastronomic brasserie. With an undeniable Italian influence.
The setting
The kitchen is totally open to the dining room, and a lovely terrace completes the setting.
The menu
The menu is equally appetizing, with a series of revisited Italian classics, as well as a Hungarian cuisine menu. Also revisited, and with great talent.
The meal and the dishes
For the first evening, I had gnocchi with a Bolognese sauce, which were excellent, and for dessert a traditional cake flavored with rum and with an excellent fresh strawberry sauce.
On the second night, I had maki, which will also be excellent.
The service
The service was perfect: we had the same waiter for both evenings. And the waiter remembered exactly what wine I ordered, so I repeated the order on the second night. Perfect!
The atmosphere
The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the acoustics of the place limited noise pollution.
Bottom line
Another excellent experience repeated twice in the restaurant of this hotel, which is definitely perfect. We’ll be back for sure.
