Turkish Airlines Business lounge in Istanbul (International): more pleasant than the Miles&Smiles lounge?

The Turkish Airlines Business lounge in Istanbul (International) is almost a carbon copy of the airline’s Miles&Smiles lounge, but a little nicer and more premium.

End of my overnight connection in Istanbul before flying to Oslo. As my flight from Saigon arrived 40 minutes early, I found myself with 4 hours to kill, which allowed me to discover the IGA lounge. Now back to familiar territory: the Turkish Airlines lounges. Having visited the Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles lounge on the outward journey, this time I’ll be visiting the Turkish Airlines Business lounge.

You’ll find a summary of articles about this vacation in Vietnam at the bottom of the page.

Location of the lounge

It is located on the mezzanine floor, on the edge of the duty free area, next to or opposite the Miles&Smiles lounge, depending on how you look at it.

A central location that puts you between 5 and 20 minutes’ walk from your boarding gate.

Access to the lounge

The lounge is open to business class passengers of Turkish Airlines and Star Alliance member airlines.

Status passengers can use the Miles&Smiles lounge.

Lounge layout

As you enter the lounge, you are greeted by a huge video screen.

On the right, the usual piano.

Next to it, a touch globe lets you view and find out about all the airline’s aircraft currently in flight.

Then there’s a catering area organized around stations where hot dishes are prepared on demand.

Surrounding this area are various rooms with different themes and decorations.

A room full of TV screens broadcasting news channels.

Another in a more oriental style.

Everywhere else, large open spaces with seating and tables, as well as coffee stations.

There are also areas for seclusion and work.

You have a nice view of the duty free area.

A special feature of the business lounge compared with the Miles&sSmiles lounge is the exhibition room. On a previous trip, works of art were on display, this time featuring the shirts of iconic players from the Champions League, of which Turkish Airlines is a partner.

Don’t look for a PSG jersey: there are only clubs that have won it!

I took the opportunity to make a short video.

Catering

Unlike the outward journey, when I passed through in the middle of the night, this time the entire catering offer was available.

Of course, the cold buffet was available.

And the hot stations start to get to work, offering above all homemade pastries as it’s early morning.

Facilities

The lounge has toilets and showers and offers massages.

Passengers who have a flight of at least 8 hours to or from Istanbul with a business class ticket or an Elite Plus card and who have a connection between 4 and 9 hours can take advantage of suites.

Atmosphere

Quite peaceful, much less “zoo” than Miles&Smiles on the outward journey. Maybe it was the time of day that made it look less like a shipwreck hall.

Bottom line

Finally, a lounge that’s a little nicer than the one on the outward journey. Perhaps because of the time of day, but also because I think fewer passengers are eligible. It also looks a little smaller.

That said, I still find it a little too large and impersonal, with the paradox that it’s beautiful but hard to really feel relaxed and at ease.

But after the astonishment of your first visit, you’ll find it less and less pleasant as time goes by.
