British Airways World Traveller Plus, Boston Logan – Londres Heathrow, Boeing 787-800 : very solid

It’s now time to head back to London for the final leg of what is ultimately a very simple trip.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Today’s itinerary

Boarding

At Boston-Logan, British Airways flights board directly from the lounge, located on the mezzanine level of gate B12.

After pre-boarding for disabled passengers, boarding of Group 1 begins, and I proceed with this boarding.

At Boston Logan, biometric boarding kiosks have been installed, and after a fast scan of my face without showing passport or boarding pass, I can head for the down escalator to the jetway.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome is cordial without being warm, and I enter the cabin of this 787-800. Boarding is via gate 2L, and we have to pass through a section of Club World cabin to reach the World Traveller Plus cabin in which we are traveling today.

The latter is still almost deserted, and the seat is similar to the one we had on the outward journey.

During boarding, soft welcome drinks are distributed, and I’ll have an orange juice.

Service and catering

Just after takeoff, menus are distributed, along with hot oshibori.

Service begins quickly afterwards, and British Airways’ breakfast protocol allows drinks to be served at the same time as trays.

I’d go for the Full English Breakfast, a BA classic and once again very good, with a special mention for the Chobani yoghurts, which I particularly like. The fruit will be good too.

All in all, a much more substantial and well-balanced service than the lunch/dinner on the outward journey.

During the flight, shortbread cakes will be served as snacks.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive at Heathrow about 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Immigration will be quick and easy, and our luggage will arrive quickly.

Bottom line

A much better flight on the way back than on the outbound flight. Just goes to show that the behaviour of passengers nearby makes all the difference!
