For the Delestre-Levai family a trip requires a lot of planning. We have to drop the dog off at his kennel, as our departure is incompatible with the shuttles from central London. So here we go for a 5 hour drive in the English countryside and a return not to the house but directly to Heathrow airport!
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Booking
The hotel offers Park & Go packages at a very reasonable price and we will take the opportunity to park our car for 10 nights.
All this for £149 per night excluding breakfast (which we will have in the lounge anyway).
Arrival
I complete the online check-in process on D-2 via the Marriott Bonvoy app.
The day before my arrival, I received a welcome message from the reception, then from the General Manager of the hotel.
Finally, I noticed on the morning of my arrival an upgrade to a Junior Suite, the highest room category in this hotel. Perfect!
We arrive by car at the hotel shortly before 6pm.
After unloading our luggage, we proceed with our check-in formalities.
We are warmly welcomed by a receptionist who gives us our key and two welcome coupons for a drink at the bar.
No mention of the upgrade, even though it was indeed processed.
Room
Our suite was located on the 4th floor of the property. The key is required in the elevator to access the floors.
The latter was located at the end of the hallway, classic for a suite.
The name “Junior Suite” is indicated on the door.
The entrance leads to the lounge area, equipped with a sofa, a coffee table and a television.
On the right is the sleeping area with a closet, a spacious desk and a king size bed.
In one corner, the bathroom is modern and equipped with a spacious shower.
The highlight of the room is the unobstructed view of one of the Heathrow runways, which will lull me to sleep until Morpheus’ arms take me away!
To finish, a video tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a fitness room, closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Restaurants
The property has two restaurants: one is located on the rooftop, the Skybar, but is currently closed, and the other is located in the lobby. We will use it for dinner.
Dinner service
We arrived for dinner around 6:30 pm. The room was already quite full.
We ordered drinks with our welcome coupon. Note that the waiters will be generous, systematically offering large versions to customers (pint of beer and not half, for example).
We will order hummus and nachos for starters, and Tikka Masala and Fish & Chips for main courses. Not very original, but damn good!
For dessert, we will share a cheesecake. Not the most dietetic meal, but it’s the beginning of the vacations!
Departure
We will use the mobile check-out features, but I will have to wait several hours to receive my bill. Not great!
Bottom line
An excellent stay. The ratings are high and well deserved.
