Today’s itinerary

Boarding

Despite the call made at the gate, we arrive at the gate while the boarding has not started. We will have to wait another 25 minutes before boarding begins. Boarding is very well organized with5 separate lanes per boarding area, depending on the travel class and status of the traveler.

The emigration cards are seized by the boarding agentsand after the boarding of the families with baby, the zone 1 of which we are part is called to board.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome at the door is very warmand we are invited to take our seats.

IMG_1424

The KLM 787-9 seat is equivalent to the one offered by Air France on the same type, a derivative of the Cirrus seat used on the airline’s 777s, reduced in size to fit 1-2-1 on the 787.

As a result, even though it is quite elegant,it is quite narrow and uncomfortable to sleep on.

It is already “furnished” with the comfort kit, ugly but complete, and the menus for this evening.

Service and catering

The service starts afew minutes after the seatbelt sign is switched off.

A tablecloth is placed on the (tiny) tablet, then the trays are distributed.

IMG_1427

As on Air France on the outbound flight, there will beno separate aperitif service.

I would nevertheless take the cocktail of the monthproposed by the Dutch airline, the negroni.

IMG_1449

The starter, rather ordinary, is a bit bland, a salad of various beans, a questionable choice for an airplane trip.

IMG_1448

For the main course, I will have the fish, which will be excellent in every respect. My wife will have the chicken which will be quite disappointing, especially its too sweet side for a main course.

The cheese will be quite ordinary, but not much more than on the French airline, and the dessert will be good.

IMG_1455

I will sleep like a baby with a chamomile brought by the crew with chocolates in the shape of a delft house.

IMG_1450

Breakfast will be served much too early, 2 hours before arrival in Amsterdam.

I will choose the pancakes, which will prove to be excellent, and accompany it with black coffee and orange juice. After breakfast, espressos will be kindly brought to me by the crew.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive at the gate almostan hour later than scheduled. This leaves us 45 minutes for our connection to London… It’s going to be sporty!
