Qatar Airways Business QSuite, Boston Logan – Doha Hamad, Airbus A350-900: True to Its Reputation for Excellence

This was the first segment of this long journey to Dubai, beginning with a flight to Doha on Qatar Airways, often cited as the world’s best airline, alongside Singapore Airlines.

Boarding

We reached the gate after boarding had already begun and headed straight down the jet bridge.

Cabin and welcome

On this flight, I was delighted to find Qatar Airways’ excellent QSuite once again, arranged in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration. For this flight with my wife and our baby, we had selected a quad setup, which can be converted into a double bed at night.

Menus, amenity kits, and refreshing wipes were already waiting at our seats.

The pre-departure service was a little slow and somewhat disjointed, but always very polite.

I chose a rosé champagne as my welcome drink.

I was offered a size L pajama set, but it turned out to be too large. I should have taken an M!

The amenity kit was by Diptyque and included toiletries that I ended up using almost entirely during the flight.

A very strong point, especially since amenity kits often contain rather low-quality products.

Service and catering

Dinner orders were taken just after takeoff.

I started with the soup, accompanied by rosé champagne and sparkling water, served with premium nuts, though unfortunately not warmed.

The table was then set very elegantly, almost in a First Class style, with very high-quality tableware.

IMG_8057

The soup was presented under a cloche, which made for an excellent effect, and drink refills were constant throughout the meal.

The pre-ordered beef was very good, slightly overcooked but extremely tender.

I skipped the cheese and dessert to go straight to bed, as our little one was already asleep.

The QSuite’s double-bed setup is very cleverly designed, with a filler piece that allowed our child to sleep comfortably as well.

I managed to get about five hours of sleep, short but very comfortable.

I later went to the galley to ask for a cappuccino, which was prepared promptly, along with a few glasses of sparkling water.

My wife and I then ordered breakfast. As a starter, I had the cut fruit, which was of excellent quality.

IMG_8073

For the main course, I chose the rolled cheddar omelette, which was divine. To accompany it, I had a café au lait and a smoothie.

Before arrival, excellent-quality Läderach chocolates were distributed.

Arrival and disembarkation

We reached our parking position a few minutes ahead of schedule. However, there was no jet bridge to the terminal, and we had to use stairs and buses to reach the transfer area. Fortunately, a First Class bus had been arranged for us, and it transported us onward in unmatched comfort.

Bottom line

An excellent flight that fully lived up to Qatar Airways’ reputation.
