Qatar Airways Business QSuite, Doha Hamad – Boston Logan, Airbus A350-900: Excellent, but really long with a nine-month-old baby

Final segment of this itinerary, with this flight from Doha Hamad to Boston Logan, scheduled at close to 14 hours block time.

Boarding

Boarding is completely chaotic, even downright messy, as the queues are barely respected for the pre-boarding security check required for US-bound flights.

Once this check is completed, however, Qatar Airways staff will escort us on board as Business Class passengers travelling with a baby.

Cabin and welcome

For the fourth consecutive time, we find ourselves in the QSuite cabin, the signature product of the Qatari carrier. It is admittedly a little narrower than on the 777, but still very pleasant.

Once again, the welcome will be perfect, both for me and for my son.

The menus as well as the amenity kit will already be placed at my seat before departure. A welcome drink is offered, and I will choose a mimosa, which is brought to me with a wrapped oshibori.

We will leave the gate a few minutes behind schedule.

Service and catering

The service begins as soon as the seatbelt sign is switched off.

For the aperitif, I will have a glass of rosé champagne, served with beetroot crisps and premium nuts.

The table is then laid, a hallmark of First Class-style service.

My starter is served next: the Balik salmon is fantastic, while the caviar and its accompaniments are very fresh.

For the main course, I opt for the chicken biryani, which is very good and not dry.

Mid-flight, I will have an afternoon tea, which proves excellent, while my son devours a lobster mac and cheese.

Towards the end of the flight, I order a sticky toffee pudding, which reminds me of the one served in chef Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants.

A small box of chocolates is distributed shortly before landing.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive at the gate on time and, after a calm disembarkation, we complete the formalities to validate our Global Entry passage.

Bottom line

An excellent flight, bringing a wonderful trip to the Middle East to a close.
