During our stay in the United Arab Emirates, we spent one night at The Abu Dhabi EDITION in order to attend a day of free practice for the final Formula 1 Grand Prix of the 2024 season. Looking back, it was an excellent stay.
Booking
I made the reservation for this one-night stay a few weeks before our arrival. As you can imagine, the city’s hotel capacity is under extreme pressure for such an event, and it was nothing short of a miracle that I managed to find a standard points redemption at one of the city’s most prestigious hotels.
After booking, I asked my Marriott Ambassador to confirm the availability of a baby crib, which was done a few hours later.
Arrival
I completed the check-in formalities 48 hours before our arrival at the hotel. Naturally, no upgrade was in sight, but with a baby I am used to that, and during the F1 Grand Prix it was obviously out of the question.
We arrived at the hotel in the late morning after driving from our hotel in Dubai. We were immediately taken care of by the valet team, who unloaded our luggage but kept the car readily available since we would be heading quickly to the circuit. We then completed the check-in formalities, which were handled while seated and in complete comfort. Our room was not yet ready, but all the paperwork was completed in advance to minimize any time lost upon our return. The staff were particularly attentive to my son and brought him a few things to keep him entertained during the process.
When we returned from the circuit, I collected the key to our room in a matter of seconds, with our luggage having already been placed inside during the day.
Room
Our room was located on the fourth and top floor of the hotel.
The entrance opens onto a wide hallway featuring a large wardrobe and leading, on the right-hand side, to a spacious bathroom with double sinks, a large bathtub, a wide walk-in shower, and separate toilets.
As in all hotels of the brand, the property offers Le Labo amenities created specifically for the chain.
At the end of the hallway is the bedroom itself, featuring a king-size bed, a beautiful chaise longue next to a coffee table, and a large desk topped by a large television.
A well-stocked minibar and an espresso machine are available, along with a welcome amenity that was high-quality, though not really to my taste.
Finally, the virtual tour:
Hotel Amenities
The hotel offers a swimming pool, a spa, and a fitness center, none of which we had the opportunity to use during our stay.
Food & Beverage
The hotel features an all-day dining restaurant called Market, operated by Executive Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
We used this restaurant for breakfast: a buffet is offered, along with an à la carte selection of dishes prepared to order. We ordered a small selection, which was excellent. The staff were absolutely lovely with our son.
Service
Service throughout the property was flawless, even with the hotel operating at full occupancy because of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Departure
The check-out process was very easy, and a small box of stuffed dates was handed to us upon departure.
Bottom line
An excellent stay, and a property we will gladly revisit.
