It is now time to leave to join the week’s destination, namely Paris, for professional reasons. So I go to Malaga airport about 1h30 before the departure of my flight to Madrid, from where I will have my connection to Paris.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Ground experience
Málaga’s airport is quite large, designed to accommodate peaks during major vacations.
The Iberia check-in is almost deserted, but Iwill wait five minutes and give up the check-in of my luggage because of the complexities related to the previous passengers (tests, vaccination, etc.)
So I proceed to the security formalities, using the Fast Trackline which will save me at least 15 minutes. Once these formalities are over, I go to the lounge.
Location
The VIP lounge, the only one in service in the airport, is located on the mezzanine of gates D. It is accessible by both a staircase and an elevator. The signage is perfect and allows for easy access.
Lounge design
We can’t say that the lounge has a modern design. The reception is nevertheless very good, even if my boarding pass is not scanned, and that all the information must be noted manually.
Nevertheless, the decoration takes us back to the 90s, with leather sofas and armchairs arranged in a low ceiling space.
You would think you were in an American airport departure lounge…
Nevertheless, it ensures social distancing, and I will occupy a set of sofas all to myself for the entirety of my stay.
Catering
The catering offer is decent, with a number of mini-sandwiches available, some salads, and a quite decent offer of drinks, with white wine, red wine, cava, and of course all the softs you will want. Two coffee machines are also available for all hot drinks.
Bottom line
A very pleasant experience, which allows you to spend the time during the half hour before boarding your flight.
