American Airlines Regional Business, Monterrey – Miami International, Embraer 175: What a dreadful crew!

The first flight segment of this return itinerary to Boston was operated by a regional aircraft.

Boarding

I left the lounge around 5 minutes before boarding was due to begin.

By the time I reached the gate, boarding had already started, and I ended up being among the last Group 1 passengers to board.

Cabin and welcome

There was no welcome at the door, and I headed straight to my seat, 01A. Unfortunately, the overhead bins in the Domestic First cabin were already full, so I had to store my bag above row 10, which meant having to make my way back up through a large part of the passenger flow during disembarkation.

Despite having my jacket on my lap, no coat service was offered, and no pre-departure drink was served either.

Service and catering

The service began just after reaching cruising altitude.

My drink order was taken, and I asked for a Baileys coffee.

It was served promptly, along with a breakfast box. The latter was of poor quality, and I did not finish it.

The flight attendant then retreated to the galley and only came back out to clear the box, with no offer of a refill, of course.

Arrival and disembarkation

We reached the gate around 30 minutes ahead of schedule. I then had to move back up 7 or 8 rows to retrieve my suitcase, though thankfully the other passengers were understanding.

The walk to passport control was very long, but the area was empty and the process was very easy thanks to Global Entry.

Bottom line

A very basic flight, with a crew that was frankly appalling.
