Beginning of this return itinerary from a business trip to Mexico, with a first segment bound for Miami.
Check-in and ground experience
I completed check-in through the American Airlines app and promptly retrieved my boarding passes in both Passbook and PDF formats.
I left my hotel 3 hours before departure, which would prove to be a bad idea given the early hour and the long wait I would end up facing at the airport.
Once at Terminal A, I stopped by a check-in counter to collect paper boarding passes, which was handled very kindly.
I then proceeded to security, which I cleared in no time at all.
Location and Welcome
The American Express Centurion Lounge is located just below the gate from which my flight was departing, which was perfect.
However, the lounge only opens at 5:00 a.m., so I had to wait for more than an hour before being able to access it.
It opened on time, and I was the first guest to enter. Eligibility verification took a little while, but I was then admitted and shown to a table by the hostess.
Design
The lounge is very small and only offers tables and a few banquettes — a space clearly designed for short stays.
Food & Beverage Offering
Oddly enough, absolutely nothing is available as self-service in this lounge. There is also no menu, which is rather unusual for the food offering.
I ordered a cappuccino and some cut fruit for breakfast.
Bottom line
A relatively pleasant space for short waits, but I would not spend more than an hour there.
