Today’s itinerary

IRROP Management and Airport Departure Experience

A few minutes before my scheduled departure from the hotel, and in the middle of a meeting, I received notification of the cancellation of my second flight of the day from Miami to Boston, and had to juggle between my meeting and the rebooking with a very unstable American Airlines application.

I miraculously managed to find an itinerary still available with confirmed seats in First, via Charlotte, and proceeded with my rebooking.

However, I had to hit the road as soon as possible to catch my flight.

After returning my rental car, I went to the American Airlines counter to check in my suitcase for Boston, then proceeded to the security line.

There’s no priority line here in Orlando, so I had to wait 45 minutes in the regular line. Really lame.

Boarding

After a short ride on the automated shuttle, I arrived at the boarding area for my flight and headed straight for gate 55, from which my flight departed. When I arrived, zone 2 was already boarding and I used the priority lane.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome was very warm and I settled into my seat, 01C.

The cabin was the new American Airlines Domestic First cabin, very comfortable and configured as a 2-2 on the American carrier’s narrow body aircraft.

There was no welcome drink service on this flight.

Service and catering

Service began a few minutes after take-off.

The purser came to take my order, and I ordered a Jack Daniels on the Rocks, which was brought to me promptly and with Premium nuts.

Minimum catering on this not-so-short flight.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at the gate about ten minutes ahead of schedule, and I was soon in the terminal.

Bottom line

A solid flight, uneventful but with minimum service.

Un vol solide, sans histoire mais au service minimum.
