American Airlines Domestic First, Boston Logan – Miami International; Airbus A321neo : An unbearable delay

With our flight delayed by almost 5 hours, we finally make our way to the gate of the flight that will take us to our next vacation destination.

Boarding

Before boarding begins, we ask the gate agent if it’s possible to check in the stroller and pick it up airside in Miami. This request is of course granted, and she hands out a pink tag for us to put on the bag containing our stroller, and we are invited to a pre-boarding even before the Group 1 passengers. So we’re off to settle in more comfortably on board.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome will be courteous without being warm. No welcome drinks are distributed during boarding.

The cabin, as usual on American Airlines Domestic First, is configured as a 2-2 with comfortable recliners.

For this flight to Miami, the cabin is equipped with four First rows.

Service and catering

Service begins with the distribution of hot oshibori after the cabin light has been switched off.

Trays will be served, which is rather surprising given the late hour of the flight.

But I imagine the protocol follows the initial departure time, and the dishes we have pre-ordered will be offered to us.

The tray will be excellent in every way. Before the trays are distributed, the aperitif and hot nuts are handed out.

On the tray, the hummus will be very tasty, the steak will be very good, a little overcooked, but the tangy sauce that accompanies it will be excellent.

Dessert will be a little dry.

My drink will be refilled without asking, and with a double dose every time. No problem with generosity, then.

Service will be permanent throughout the flight in the First cabin, a good point and too rare on American airlines.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at the gate nearly five hours later than originally planned, and had to wait a long time on the bridge (over 10 minutes) before being able to collect the stroller.

Next time, I’ll ask for the stroller to be delivered on the final baggage conveyor.

Bottom line

A flight with very good service, but the delay spoiled everything. At least this time the crew was good.
