For this short stay in Mexico, I, along with the rest of my delegation, stayed at The Westin Monterrey Valle. Here’s a look back at a very positive experience.
Booking
I booked this property around 10 days before my arrival, using my company’s Corporate rate.
Before my arrival, I asked my Ambassador to contact the hotel to secure a 1:00 p.m. check-in and airport transfers, both of which were confirmed promptly.
Arrival
I completed the check-in formalities through the Marriott Bonvoy app 48 hours before my arrival.
I noticed that I had been upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was perfect.
I arrived at the hotel at around 12:15 p.m. on the day of arrival. My suite was ready, and I completed the arrival formalities with the charming receptionist. Everything was handled promptly and courteously. The receptionist informed me that breakfast would be included, and that three drinks per evening would be offered at the hotel bar.
Suite
My suite was located on the 9th and second-to-last floor of the property.
The entrance features large closets, making it easy to settle in comfortably during the stay.
On the right was a very spacious bathroom, with a double vanity, toilets separated by a glass partition (and therefore fully visible), a bathtub, and a large shower.
I am not a big fan of the texture of Westin’s toiletries, even if the fragrance is pleasant.
Next came the sleeping area, with an elegant sideboard on the left and a large King-size bed on the right, which was very comfortable and faced a large television mounted on a rotating base.
Near the window was the living area, with its table and four chairs, as well as a sofa facing the bed.
A little later in the day, a welcome amenity was delivered for me.
Finally, the virtual tour:
Hotel Amenities
The hotel has a fitness room, a spa, and a swimming pool located on the upper floors of the property.
Fitness Center
The fitness room was located on the 10th floor of the property. It is modest in size, but perfectly suited to the number of rooms in the hotel.
There is a good range of equipment, all of it of good quality. Towels, oshibori towels, and bottles of water are provided.
I had two workouts during my stay.
Pool
The Westin’s swimming pool is located on the rooftop. I did not use it due to lack of time, but I would gladly do so on a future stay.
It is adjacent to the rooftop bar, which remained closed during my stay.
Food & Beverage
In addition to the rooftop bar, the property has an Italian restaurant located in the lobby, which also serves as the all-day dining venue.
Breakfast service
On the first morning of my stay, I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. After my room number was noted, I was shown to a table and a drink was offered. I chose a latte and then helped myself at the buffet.
The selection was very average, and I made do with a few scrambled eggs and some cut fruit. Disappointing, given the quality of the rest of the hotel.
Service
Service was excellent from start to finish and delivered with genuine warmth. A real pleasure when one lives in the United States.
Departure
The check-out formalities were incredibly simple, completed in just a few seconds, and my driver was waiting for me in the lobby to take me to the airport.
Bottom line
An excellent stay: I would gladly return.
