Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel: Adequate

For my first night in the capital of Georgia, USA, I stayed at the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport, located just a few minutes by shuttle from the airport’s various terminals.

Booking

I booked this property about a week before my arrival. Rates for this first night in Atlanta were completely outrageous due to an American football game taking place that evening.

Nevertheless, thanks to my company’s corporate rate, I managed to book this property for just under $200 per night, taxes included.

Arrival

I completed the check-in formalities 48 hours before my arrival through the Marriott Bonvoy app.

At that point, I noticed a very nice upgrade to a Governor’s Suite, one of the hotel’s highest room categories.

From Atlanta Airport’s domestic terminal, I took the hotel shuttle, which arrived after about a 10-minute wait. Not long in itself, but when it is 14°F outside, it feels very, very long.

I was checked in very quickly — too quickly, in fact — and was on my way to my suite without receiving any information about the hotel’s services. Standard American welcome these days.

Suite

My suite was located on the 10th and second-to-last floor of the property.

It features double doors opening into a large entrance hall.

On the right, there is a bathroom.

Next comes the living room, with a sofa, coffee table, and armchairs facing a large television.

There is then a large rectangular table with six chairs. A welcome amenity had been placed on this table, symbolic but pleasant.

Attached to the living area is a kitchen, accessible from outside the suite via a separate door.

Running along the entire living space is a large balcony overlooking the airport apron, offering a splendid view.

Beyond the living area is the sleeping area, equipped with a King-size bed, with a large nightstand on one side and a desk on the other, facing a television.

Finally, there is a large bathroom with double sinks, a shower, and a large bathtub, as well as separate toilets.

Finally, the virtual tour:

Hotel Amenities

The hotel features a fitness room located next to the lobby and its large atrium.

IMG_9890

The equipment is fairly old, and it was freezing cold. I still did a short workout before starting my day.

Food & Beverage

I did not use the hotel restaurant, but I did go to the hotel’s Club Lounge for breakfast.

IMG_9893

My room key did not work — another fine job by the receptionist on arrival… — but another guest kindly let me in.

IMG_9894

This lounge is very small, and the breakfast offering is extremely minimal.

Service

As is often the case in the United States, and even more so in airport hotels, the service provided is minimal.

Departure

Check-out was very straightforward and completed through the mobile check-out feature in the Marriott Bonvoy app.

Bottom line

A spacious suite with an exceptional view, but beyond that, there is not much to write home about.
