AC Hotel New York Downtown: Basic, but efficient and modern

For this stay in the Big Apple, I chose to stay at this hotel located in Downtown, just a 15-minute walk from the conference I was attending.

Booking

I made the reservation about a month before my arrival.

This time, I used my Marriott Bonvoy points and selected a Downtown property, which I felt offered the best value for money in the area.

Arrival

The week before my arrival, I requested my Marriott Ambassador to apply for Your24, ensuring that my room would be available by 9 a.m. so I could attend to my meetings for the day.

Unfortunately, the hotel couldn’t immediately confirm this availability and advised me to follow up the day before my arrival, as they were fully booked the previous night.

48 hours before arrival, I completed the online check-in via the Marriott Bonvoy app.

The day before, my Ambassador renewed the Your24 request, which was this time approved by the hotel—great news!

I arrived at the hotel around 9:30 a.m., and as confirmed, my room was ready immediately. Check-in was quick and efficient. At AC Hotels, breakfast is not offered as a welcome benefit, but I was given an F&B voucher, which I declined in favor of points.

Room

My room was on the 24th floor of the hotel.

Each floor is fairly small, with about 10 rooms per level.

Mine was at the end of the hallway, positioned at a corner of the hotel.

Upon entering, you find the bathroom area, with a sink on the right featuring toiletries and a hairdryer, opposite a closet containing a mini-fridge, safe, and ironing board with an iron.

To the left, there’s the toilet and shower area, separated from the hallway by a sliding glass door.

The toiletries provided were from Korres, in shared dispensers.

Facing the entrance was a comfortable king-sized bed, with a desk and a smart TV mounted above it.

The view was open and overlooked the Hudson River.

Catering

The hotel has a restaurant that is open only for breakfast, located on the 2nd floor.

There’s also a bar right next to it.

Service

The service was minimal but friendly. Housekeeping did a thorough job.

Departure

The check-out process was very simple. I dropped my room keys at the front desk and received my invoice just a few minutes later, while I was already on my way to the airport in a Lyft.

Bottom line

A solid stay with excellent value for points.
