SAS Gold lounge in Stockholm: pleasant but the food is still disappointing

Like most SAS lounges, Stockholm’s is very pleasant to stay in, but disappointing when it comes to catering.

So I find myself with just under 2 hours of connecting time to kill before heading back to Oslo, nothing like the 7-hour wait I had to endure on my last trip here from Chicago. Not much choice of lounge here, especially as the Amex is (temporarily?) closed due to work in the terminal, so I naturally head for the SAS Gold lounge.

A quick review of the experience, as we’ve already presented this lounge to you on numerous occasions.

You’ll find a summary of all the articles about this vacation in Vietnam at the bottom of the page.

Location of the lounge

It is located in Terminal 5, where SAS operates, one floor above the gates and commercial area. In terms of location, it’s within easy walking distance of all the Schengen gates. However, as the airport’s only SAS lounge, it also welcomes passengers on non-Schengen flights, who will have to walk a little further and pass through immigration before reaching their gate.

Access to the lounge

It welcomes Gold and Diamond members of the SAS Eurobonus program and members of Star Alliance airlines with Star Gold status.

Right next door is an SAS business lounge for business class and SAS plus passengers and business class passengers from partner airlines.

Lounge layout

The lounge is like most SAS lounges in a very Scandinavian design: wood and soothing light tones.

It features a large main area with sofas and coffee tables.

A few solo armchairs too.

An open workspace…

Closed offices.

And stools and high tables near the buffet.

At the far end of the lounge, you’ll find reclined seats with a view of the tarmac.

In fact, that’s where I’ll be settling.

Very bright lounge, with bay windows overlooking the tarmac on both sides, really pleasant.

Catering

This is always the weak point at SAS: vegetables, salads…and that’s it. Oh yes, I forgot another SAS classic: a delicious, mouth-watering butter.

It has the merit of existing, it’s not bad, but it lacks variety, especially hot dishes.

Atmosphere

The lounge was full when I visited, but even so it’s not very noisy and remains very livable.

Facilities

The lounge has toilet and shower facilities.

Bottom line

A very pretty and pleasant lounge, but as always, it is hampered by its poor catering offering.
