Today’s itinerary

Boarding

I arrive at the gate a few minutes before the theoretical boarding time. A preliminary announcement is made to invite passengers to check their cabin baggage in the hold because the aircraft is full.

I take a few pictures of the beautiful A321NEO that will take me to Phoenix that day, and a flight time of 5h41 is announced on the screens.

The boarding starts with the ConciergeKey passengers and then the First passengers of which I am part. I don’t dare to board with the CKs even if I know I can.

Cabin and welcome

The First Class cabin of American in the A321NEO is very nice and the seat is very wide. It will be much more comfortable than United’s 737-900s after my last itinerary from Austin.

The boarding will be fast, in less than 20 minutes for a full flight.

I will be offered a welcome drink, and a full bar is offered. Great !

We pushed back about 10 minutes ahead of schedule.

Service and catering

A few minutes after takeoff, the purser came to confirm my choice of dish… And I was very surprised that my choice of dish survived the Same Day Confirmed! Impressive American Airlines!

The service started with the distribution of hot Premium nuts, as well as the ordered drink, a glass of red wine. It was very good, and so were the nuts.

A refill was made without even asking before the meal was served.

The meal tray was then served. It included a starter with parma ham rolls and blue cheese. I nibbled on a few slices but quickly moved on to the main course: a grilled chicken with a very tasty sauce, and a baked potato with cheddar cheese. Excellent. I skipped the side salad.

Quickly, my tray was removed and I continued watching my documentary on my iPad.

A dessert was then offered, with a choice of a fruit salad or a personalized Sundae, I chose the latter with a raspberry sauce with fresh raspberries, but could not finish because it was so generous.

During the rest of the flight, the crew came by with glasses of still and sparkling water, and I took the opportunity to sip a few glasses. They also came by several times with Premium snacks and I made a small selection that help pass the time until the end of my flight to Phoenix.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at the gate about 30 minutes ahead of schedule, and when the gate opened, it’s a very pleasant breath of warm air that blew on me, excellent! The terminal was totally saturated but I reached the lounge quickly.

Bottom line

An excellent flight, with a comfortable seat and a very motivated crew, what more could I ask for?
