After a bus ride of about thirty minutes, I finally arrived at the ENGLiSH Hotel.

Today’s itinerary

Booking

I proceeded to the reservation of this property a few weeks before my arrival in Las Vegas. I initially wanted to stay at the Cosmopolitan, but its excessive price made me change for this new Marriott property located in Downtown Las Vegas, further away from the strip.

As time went on, the price went down, so I was able to confirm my reservation for $210 a night all inclusive, excluding breakfast.

Arrival

I arrived at the hotel in the early evening by bus 108 from the airport. It is direct and quite fast, the only problem being the limited frequency.

I was warmly welcomed by the two charming receptionists, who proceed to the check-in formalities. An upgrade was confirmed for the 3 nights of my stay, and I asked for breakfast as a Platinum benefit.

A small bag containing a welcome amenity was given to me at the reception. Basic, but consistent with the US Marriott experience.

The restaurant was introduced to me and I was directed to the elevators leading to the rooms.

The lobby is very elegantly decorated.

Room

My room was located on the 4th and top floor of the hotel, number 419.

There was a small entrance with an open closet and a small, not very ergonomic desk. A USB and USB-C hub was installed, however, and was very convenient.

A black paper notebook and golden pen was provided, I liked this style!

IMG_1394

A large cabinet with drawers was installed with the TV on top, including the minibar and thus allowing to unpack your stuff for a few days.

IMG_1395

Opposite this piece of furniture was the large king size bed. The mattress was comfortable but I am not a fan of the uncomfortable bed linen.

Facing the floor-to-ceiling window, a very elegant bar tray was installed, but the minibar being empty, I am not sure of the usefulness of this artifact.

IMG_1397

The floor-to-ceiling window provided an unobstructed view of a part of downtown Las Vegas and the hotel pool.

Finally, the bathroom was quite compact but offered a rather large shower.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The hotel, surprisingly, does not have a gym. It does, however, have a nice outdoor heated pool, which I will use during my stay.

IMG_1434

The pool is very quiet and very well equipped with furniture.

Catering

The hotel has an excellent restaurant, the Pepper Club by Todd English. I tried its breakfast and dinner service.

Breakfast – The Pepper Club

I had my breakfast every day at the hotel’s restaurant, The Pepper Club. The welcome was perfect and the menu awesome. The token awarded for Platinum members and above allowed me to order the entire breakfast menu for free.

The eggs royale with salmon I ordered were absolutely perfect, and the service was very attentive.

Bar – The Pepper Club

On the second night of my stay, I returned to the hotel in late afternoon and decided to take a quick break at the bar before relaxing at the pool.

IMG_1431

The bar offers a pretty extensive menu, and even has a Happy Hour from 3pm to 5pm with a pretty extensive menu of Japanese tapas

IMG_0174

I’ll order one of their signature strawberry cocktails with Grey Goose vodka, as well as their fried rice, both of which are scrumptious.

Dinner – The Pepper Club

The restaurant is reported in the following review.

Service

The service in this hotel is absolutely perfect, surprising for an American hotel. I will come back there!

Departure

The day before my departure, I went to the reception to ask for my late check-out, theoretically guaranteed until 4pm, and late check-out that was already planned for me, perfect!

During the night, I received a draft of the bill that I checked, then proceed to the mobile check-out when I left the hotel around 3.45pm.

Bottom line

An excellent stay in this hotel, that makes a lot of efforts to satisfy its customers. Its only drawback? The location, penalizing when you have professional activities near the strip.

Excellent

Un excellent séjour dans cet hôtel qui fait beaucoup d’efforts pour satisfaire ses clients. Son seul point noir ? La localisation, pénalisante lorsque l’on a des activités professionnelles près du strip.
