Today’s itinerary

The concept

It is an original concept of the restaurateur Todd English for this new hotel located Downtown Las Vegas, in the North of the so known strip.

It is a Japanese-Mediterranean fusion restaurant. Strange on paper.

The setting

The decoration is perfectly up to date, with different spaces: tables of course, but also around a central bar, booths, an outdoor terrace space and a counter facing the sushi masters.

The menu

The proposed menu is very appealing. Already very large at first sight, it is completed by a list of specials of the month, and notably Wagyu beef (too big for me) and an impressive list of ultra-fresh nigiri and sashimi.

The meal and the dishes

As an appetizer, I ordered a selection of these fresh sushi and sashimi, in this case two nigiri of otoro, the extra fatty tuna, and 3 sashimi of scallops.

I started with the scallop sashimi, lightly lemony, which will be a delight, melting to perfection!

I cleaned my palate with the homemade ginger that was on the platter, before moving on to the otoro nigiri, which were absolutely magnificent, topped with oscietre caviar that reinforces the marine side of this usually very mild nigiri. Just perfect.

At my request, a break will be made between the starter and the main course to give me time to digest.

For the main course, I tried a roll called the GOAT (no, not Lionel Messi), composed of a lobster tempura, beef, wasabi puree, and gold leaf. Absolutely fantastic marriage of taste yet unusual on paper.

I washed my meal down with hot green tea and a cocktail I had already tried as an aperitif, the Strawberry Fields.

The service

The service was very good. The last plate clearing was a little too long for my taste, but the “false rhythm” I installed with my waiter did not help him to anticipate my rhythm of meal.

The atmosphere

The atmosphere was quite energetic and would not please everyone. The music is rather loud.

Bottom line

A really superb experience. A gem in the capital of Nevada.
