British Airways World Traveller, Miami International – Londres Heathrow, Airbus A380-800 : Hard to fly in economy class!

After a short hour and a half spent at the American Airlines Flagship Lounge in Miami, I head for the boarding of my BA flight to London Heathrow.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Today’s itinerary

Boarding

The British Airways flight boards from gate E, accessible through an automatic shuttle. To accommodate the A380s, Miami uses two gates, which allow access to either the lower or upper deck.

Before boarding begins, I go to the gate to have my passport checked and to be given a boarding pass by the staff. I also inquired about the availability of paid upgrades, and was told that the flight was 100% full. Too bad.

A few dozen minutes later, the boarding begins with the myriad of families with babies, before finally, the boarding of Group 1 is called.

I will be among the first on board.

Cabin and welcome

The reception at the door is rather ordinary and I head for my seat on the upper deck.

I regretfully walk through the Club World and World Traveller Plus cabins before settling in the second row of the World Traveller, at the window.

The adjoining seat will remain free, blocked by the Miami stopover due to my Gold status. Excellent !

The boarding ends a little late, as always on Airbus A380.

Service and catering

The service was extremely slow, which is a real shame on a night flight, where you want to maximize your rest.

A first round of drinks is served as an aperitif, with some pretzels.

Then comes the meal tray: I would choose the chicken, which turns out to be quite good. I won’t touch the appetizer or dessert, and will have one of the beers dedicated to British Airways, the Jet Stream.

For breakfast, a cardboard box is distributed with a cheese croissant that will turn out to be very good, and a strawberry yogurt that will also be good. I will accompany it with a latte. Simple but it does the job.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive a few minutes late at Concourse C of Heathrow terminal 5, and immigration will be passed in a few seconds.

Bottom line

A quite correct flight in economy class, despite a service carried out without any passion.
