After a very good flight from Miami, we go to the American Airlines Flagship lounge in Miami. Despite the fact that I fly BA and Kristof flies UA, we are eligible to access it under the same conditions as at JFK when the flight arrives.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Location
The lounge is located in Concourse D, where the American Airlines boarding gates are located.
As at JFK, the reception is shared between the Admiral’s Club and the Flagship Lounge, and upon presentation of my boarding pass from the feeder flight, Kristof and I are admitted to the Flagship Lounge without any additional request.
The latter is located on the second floor, on the mezzanine, and is accessible by elevator.
Lounge design
Once you reach the top of the elevator, the Flagship lounge is located on the right. The invitations, handed to the first floor, are collected by the attendants and the access is given to us.
At the entrance, a stand with Piper-Heidsick champagne is available and we will take two glasses on the way.
The lounge is organized around a skylight that faces the concourse, with various relaxation, dining and work areas.
The design is quite simple, but the furniture is of high quality. A big improvement over the American lounges of just 5 years ago, which were from the 80’s.
Catering offer
Like the one at JFK, the food and beverage offer is very good in this lounge.
The hot dishes are different and a show kitchen with a piece of beef is even available.
Fresh and alcoholic drinks are diverse and of excellent quality.
Bottom line
A very good lounge, unfortunately overcrowded during our visit.
